About
Background & toolset
I worked out what I wanted to do partway through my degree: the assignments that asked me to build the graphics environment from scratch held my attention in a way the rest did not. The first was a procedural terrain in OpenGL. The one that settled it was Ghost Engine — a deferred renderer and editor written on Vulkan from nothing, with one other programmer, over the final year of my HND.
I have just finished that HND in Videogames Programming at ESAT, and in September I start a BSc top-up year in Computer Science at Sheffield Hallam University, where I will be based.
What I want next is engine work in the widest sense — from the renderer through to the tools built on top of it — and the optimisation problems that come with the territory.
